Where We Are Located

Our chapel is located in Rice, Virginia near Farmville. It is roughly one hour from Richmond. We are also a short driving distance from Charlottesville and Lynchburg. The venue location provides a beautiful backdrop for smaller, intimate weddings, and we can accommodate events of up to 115 people. 

The chapel was built in 1884. We provide yesterday’s grace and today’s amenities. The historic feel of the venue is complete with high ceilings and the original pews from the 1800s. The chapel is known for its classic decor, intimate environment and historic beginnings.

Perfect for Smaller Events 

Many brides love Salem Chapel because it allows them to keep their event small and intimate with their family and closest friends. When choosing our venue, you have a blank canvas to decorate as simple or as elaborate as you choose. From décor to dining, you have the freedom to reflect the personalities of both the bride and groom.

What’s Included

We recently refurbished the chapel and built an addition to the existing building. It was important for us to modernize our facilities while maintaining the rich history of the property. A ballroom was added which is perfect for a wedding reception and can be used as a dance floor. The traditional chapel still has our historic pews and high ceilings. There is also a groomsmen suite and cocktail reception area in the chapel area. There is a bridal suite and catering quarters located in the lower level.

There are (15) 48” tables, (3) 30” short cocktail tables, and (3) 30” tall cocktail tables. If you want to keep all events in one location, the facility can also be used for the rehearsal dinner. There is a kitchen on-site and our chapel is available for other events too.
